Elicit Enterprise is solid for research teams

Last week, after looking into Elicit Basic vs Plus, we picked Elicit Enterprise; the team workspace is super useful.

Reliable research assistant

I've used Elicit for a few different projects now, mostly for the Paper Summarization and Data Extraction. This last time I got Elicit Plus, and it was just as solid as my previous experiences. The summaries were consistently good, and it pulled the key info I needed without a hitch. It's why I keep coming back; I know what I'm getting. Delivery is instant since it's software, which is always nice.

Good features, slow support

I purchased the Elicit Plus subscription to automate some of my systematic review work. The Automated Screening and Citation Analysis tools worked well, and the interface for PDF Analysis was quite intuitive. However, I had an issue with an upload and tried contacting support. It took about three days to get a response, which was a bit frustrating when I was on a deadline. They did eventually resolve it, but the wait was longer than I expected. The features themselves are strong, just wish the support was quicker.

So helpful for my thesis!

Elicit is incredible! I was struggling with my literature review, but the AI Literature Review feature saved me so much time. It felt like I had a research assistant working 24/7. I signed up for the Pro plan and it's been worth every penny. I'm definitely going to keep using this for all my academic work. I've already told my study group about it, they need to try it out!

Good tool, some minor issues

I used Elicit's Paper Summarization feature for a few articles and found it quite helpful for getting the gist quickly. The interface was clean and easy to navigate. However, some of the summaries felt a little too brief at times, missing a nuance or two I'd hoped for. Overall, it's a solid tool and worth the subscription for productivity, just wish the summaries were a tad more comprehensive on occasion.

Good for quick summaries

I used the Paper Summarization feature for a few articles last week. It did a decent job pulling out key points, which saved me some time. The interface was straightforward enough. I found it a bit slow sometimes though, especially with longer PDFs. It took about 30-40 seconds for some papers, which isn't terrible but could be faster. Overall, it was helpful for getting a quick overview without reading everything myself.

Helped with my research

I needed to get a handle on a bunch of papers for a project, so I tried Elicit. The Research Assistant part really helped me sort through things faster than usual. It's not perfect, but it definitely cut down on my reading time. Uploading PDFs was simple and it processed them quickly. Made my life a bit easier. Would recommend giving it a shot if you're drowning in articles.

Decent research tool

Signed up for the Elicit Plus plan last month. The AI Literature Review worked okay for my topic. It found some relevant papers, but I still had to do a lot of manual filtering. The Table Extraction feature was pretty good for pulling data. Customer service was quick to answer a question I had about billing. My main issue was the cost; it felt a little high for how much extra work I still had to do. Also, I wish it integrated better with Zotero directly.

Does Elicit work well for systematic reviews? Need something reliable for a big project.

T Tim Thomas 1 month ago
I've used it for parts of a systematic review and it really speeds up the screening process. Not sure it does *everything* but it's a huge help.

A Andrew White 1 month ago
For sure, it's designed for that. It helps with screening and synthesizing evidence. Just remember, it's a tool, you still gotta use your brain for critical appraisal!

Anyone know if there's a student discount for Elicit? My university email qualifies for a lot of academic software.

M Megan Smith 1 month ago
Yeah, they usually have one. Check their pricing page or sign up with your .edu email, you should see an option.

I got a pretty sweet deal last fall for my PhD. I think it was like 15% off the annual plan. Worth looking into for sure.

Thinking of trying Elicit, but does it actually do what it says? Heard some AI tools can be a bit overhyped for literature reviews.

C Chris Torres 2 weeks ago
It's pretty good for summarizing papers and extracting data. Definitely saves a ton of time compared to doing it all manually. Not perfect, but a huge help.

H Hannah Johnson 2 weeks ago
I use it for my systematic reviews and it's surprisingly accurate. You still need to double check, but it gets you most of the way there. Much better than sifting through endless PDFs.

if i sign up, what payment methods do they take? just cards or paypal too?

H Hannah Campbell 1 month ago
Pretty sure it's all major credit cards. I paid with my Visa.

I've only ever used a credit card, never saw a PayPal option. Could be wrong though, might be regional or something.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they do. I saw an option for it when I was signing up last semester.

They totally do! It's usually a pretty good deal too. Check their pricing page, there should be info there.

how does elicit compare to perplexity or researchrabbit? i'm trying to pick one for my lit review.

J Jeff Williams 3 weeks ago
Elicit is more about breaking down papers and summarizing them, while Perplexity is more of a search engine that gives you answers. ResearchRabbit is good for finding related papers. Depends on what you need most.
3
A Amanda N. 3 weeks ago
I use Elicit for the actual analysis and summary of papers I already have, or found through a basic search. Perplexity is better for quick info retrieval. ResearchRabbit is great for discovery.

Can I use a promo code if I go with the annual subscription? Seems like the best way to save.

B Brandon Flores 3 weeks ago
Yep, you absolutely can. Most codes work on annual plans, usually for the first year.

L Lisa Torres 3 weeks ago
My code worked on my annual subscription last year. It's usually a better deal to combine the annual discount with a promo code.

Thinking of upgrading to Plus. What's the main difference between Basic and Plus, like for real world use?

L Lisa M. 1 month ago
The paper limit is way higher on Plus, and you get more advanced features like deeper data extraction. Basic is fine for casual stuff but Plus is where it's at for serious research.
2
J Joseph B. 1 month ago
Plus gives you a lot more credits, so you can run more analyses and extract more tables. Also some team collaboration features too, I think.
